Luzius Meisser: «I Play Polytopia Every Day»

Every week, interesting personalities from the world of finance and beyond share their personal preferences in our section Backstage.

What is the best part of your job?

The freedom to shape things. I also appreciate that I still occasionally get the chance to do some programming. There are few things more enjoyable than being “in the flow” and crafting a piece of software.

What advice would you give to your 20-year-old self?

Follow your path. It will turn out well.

What are you particularly proud of?

I try to avoid being proud. I don’t want to look down on the world from above.

What do you do when you have doubts?

I exchange views with the relevant people, think, and sleep on it.

What projects are you currently working on?

With Aktionariat, we are refining the use of blockchain for private share trading. With the Frankencoin Association, we are developing the largest Swiss-franc-denominated stablecoin. With the Swiss Blockchain Federation, we are working on the consultation response to the pending crypto legislation. With Autonomiesuisse, we are working toward a healthy relationship with Europe. And last but not least, I am also involved with Bitcoin Suisse and enjoy it when the markets, like this year, reach new highs.

Do you have any pastime besides that?

I play a round of Polytopia every day. In the Weekly Challenge, I’ve already ranked among the top 100 globally.

What do you admire in other people?

Commitment, competence and original thinking.

What would be the biggest surprise for someone who had to take over your job for a day?

The lack of daily routines. Every day is unique.

What is your personal drive?

The joy of doing good work.

What are you afraid of?

That Europe will fall apart due to statism.

Your favorite watch brand?

IWC. My wife gave me one as a wedding gift. I wear it every day.

Your best investment?

Bitcoin.

Which book did you last read?

«Air» by Christian Kracht. I love his cool language, shaped by subtle humour and precise observation.
