Johannes T. Barth, the vice chairman of the board of directors at Banque Heritage, has left the bank. Barth, who was based in Basel, had occupied the role since 2024. Previously, Barth served as deputy chief executive and head private banking at the institution. From 2023 until 2026, he was also a board advisor at Banque Heritage Uruguay.

Ex-CEO of Sallfort Privatbank and Political Chairman

Over his nearly 30-year career, Barth has been a leading figure in both Swiss finance and politics. Barth was the former CEO of Sallfort Privatbank for 19 years until the bank merged with Banque Heritage in 2019. Outside of the financial world, Barth has also served as the chairman of the political party FDP Basel-Stadt since 2021. He also resigned from this role in April. Barth continues to sit in the Basel-Stadt cantonal parliament.

Commenting on the resignation, Barth shared the following on LinkedIn: «Today, I say farewell to Banque Heritage – with deep gratitude and great excitement for what lies ahead. Since 1998, I have had the privilege of working in various leadership roles – at Sallfort Privatbank AG and, following the merger, at Banque Heritage SA – as CEO, Head of Private Banking, and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, alongside extraordinary people: colleagues and clients in Switzerland and far beyond. What stays with me? The firm belief that lasting success rests on four things: trust, respect, collaboration, and an uncompromising commitment to quality.»

Banque Heritage will continue to maintain a professional relationship with him in the future, outside of any executive or employment framework. The investment expertise brought by Johannes Barth will be taken over by Donald Waterreus on the board of directors.  He will also serve as Chairman of the Board Investment Committee. Upon proposal of the shareholders, the Bank’s Board of Directors will convene during the month of May to elect its new Vice Chairman.
