EdR Board of Directors «Monitoring the Situation» Surrounding the Epstein Documents
At the end of January, the publication of the so-called Epstein Files by the US Department of Justice revealed years of contact between Ariane de Rothschild, CEO of the Geneva-based private bank Edmond de Rothschild (EdR), and the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, as previously reported by finews.
The board has now commented on the matter in a statement, according to the news agency Reuters. «The board of directors, which oversees the bank’s executive management and is chaired by Yves Perrier, has organized itself to independently monitor the situation, in addition to the work and analyses carried out by the executive management,» the letter dated Wednesday evening stated.
«Necessary Measures» Taken
Since the publication of the documents by the US Department of Justice, the bank said it has taken «the necessary measures to protect the interests of clients, employees and shareholders.»
Ariane de Rothschild wrote to the bank’s clients and employees earlier this week to reassure them of the strength of the group, a spokesperson told Reuters. De Rothschild has served as CEO of the bank since 2023.
Years of Personal Contact
Documents released last month by the US Department of Justice show that de Rothschild had maintained personal contact with Epstein for years prior to his arrest in 2019. After the files were made public, a bank spokesperson told Reuters that Epstein had been a business partner of de Rothschild from 2013 to 2019.
De Rothschild had no knowledge of Epstein’s conduct and «strongly condemns his behavior and the crimes he committed,» the statement said.
Annual Results Imminent
In its statement on Wednesday, the bank also said that it has recorded net new money inflows of more than 5 billion Swiss francs so far in 2026, with inflows remaining «particularly strong» since January.
The bank added that it is preparing to announce its 2025 financial results shortly.
