Pictet Makes an Exceptional Investment
The Pictet Group and Swiss accounting services company Tretor have entered into a long-term strategic partnership aimed at building a leading Swiss accounting and professional services group focused on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The two companies announced this on Tuesday.
The partnership is led by the Direct Private Equity team of Pictet Alternative Advisors, which, together with Tretor, plans to establish an entrepreneurially driven platform. The platform will bring together locally rooted accounting firms and provide them with access to centralised resources, modern technology and scalable infrastructure.
Switzerland’s accounting services market remains highly fragmented and is increasingly exposed to structural challenges, notably digitalisation, artificial intelligence, talent shortages, regulatory complexity and rising quality requirements. The new platform is designed to address these issues by pooling key central functions such as talent development, IT, digitalisation and AI, controlling and quality management. This approach aims to reduce costs, improve efficiency and open up access to new clients.
Adding Further Partner Firms
At the same time, the entrepreneurial independence of partner firms will be preserved. Local firms will continue to focus on their core role as trusted advisors in accounting, tax, audit and related advisory services. Clients are expected to benefit from a broader service offering, deeper specialist expertise, increased use of digital tools and nationwide coverage across Switzerland.
Nikolaus Hubmann, Head of DACH Direct Private Equity at Pictet Alternative Advisors, describes the accounting services sector as undergoing structural change. He notes that the partnership with Tretor combines strong local expertise with centralised excellence, creating a foundation for sustainable growth and tangible value creation for Swiss SMEs. Pictet is deliberately investing with a long-term horizon and is seeking entrepreneurial partners willing to actively shape the future of the sector.
From Tretor’s perspective, the focus remains firmly on proximity to clients and long-term development. Managing Partner Adrian Schaller underlines the importance of being a local point of contact for SMEs and highlights the shared conviction with Pictet that sustainable growth requires entrepreneurial freedom and long-term thinking. Together, the partners aim to build a group that strengthens talent development while further enhancing client service quality.
The platform is expected to expand gradually by adding further partner firms.
