Zurich Kantonalbank Significantly Increases Profit

In 2025, Zurich Kantonalbank reported a consolidated profit of 1,24 billion francs. Compared with the previous year, this represents an increase of 10,8 percent, according to figures published on Friday.

Profit before tax rose by 10,3 percent to 1,42 billion francs. The canton of Zurich and its municipalities will share a record 581 million francs in the bank’s success, the statement said.

30'000 New Customers

Zurich Kantonalbank spoke of an «excellent securities and investment business» as well as a «successful trading result.» Income from commission and services rose to a record 1,08 billion francs, up 5,7 percent. Trading income increased by 21 percent to 427 million francs.

«In a challenging environment, we were able to grow successfully across the entire market and continue our success story,» said CEO Urs Baumann. Zurich Kantonalbank attracted more than 30'000 new customers.

Net Interest Income Maintained

Net interest income reached around 1,68 billion francs, remaining at the previous year’s level. Growth in lending and mortgage volumes was unable to offset declining income from the deposit business. The mortgage portfolio stood at 111,2 billion francs at the end of 2025, up 4,3 percent year on year.

Client assets increased by 11,2 percent to 579,0 billion francs, mainly due to positive market performance. Net new money inflows into assets under management amounted to 13,6 billion francs.

Sale Generates Extraordinary Result

The sale of Zurich Kantonalbank Austria to Liechtensteinische Landesbank in January 2025 resulted in an extraordinary gain of 68 million francs.

At year-end, Zurich Kantonalbank reported a strong capital position, with a risk-based Total Loss Absorbing Capacity (TLAC) ratio of 32,2 percent and a Common Equity Tier 1 (CET1) ratio of 21,2 percent.
