Bergos Private Bank: CEO Resigns, Successor Search Under Way

Zurich-based independent private bank Bergos is implementing a leadership transition. CEO Peter Raskin has decided, in agreement with the board of directors and the anchor shareholders, to hand over his operational responsibilities, according to a press release published Monday afternoon.

The transition will take place step by step: from mid-January 2026, the bank will be run operationally on a joint basis by the three members of the executive committee. The interim team comprises Till C. Budelmann (Chief Investment Officer), Danting Liu (Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer) and Simon Wanzenried (Chief Private Banking).

Three-person leadership as an interim solution

Until a permanent CEO successor has been appointed, the trio will jointly steer the bank’s day-to-day operations.

Raskin, who has shaped Bergos since 2009 and previously served as CEO of Berenberg Bank (Switzerland), will support the transition and remain connected to Bergos thereafter. He said he intends to devote more time to personal projects going forward.

Under operational and earnings pressure

Chairman Peter Schmid praised Raskin’s achievements while underscoring strategic continuity. Bergos, he said, has an «outstanding executive committee» that enjoys the full confidence of both the board and shareholders.

The reshuffle comes at a time when Bergos is facing heightened pressure both operationally and on the earnings side. As the 2024 annual report shows (as finews reported), the year was subdued: rising regulatory costs, margin pressure and a challenging market environment weighed on the bank’s performance.

At the time, Bergos itself referred to 2024 as a challenging year. It does not appear to have returned to calmer waters in 2025 either.
