GAM Strengthens Paris Team with Senior Appointment

The asset manager GAM Investments (GAM) has named Karim Carmoun as Managing Director. He will be responsible for the markets in France, Benelux, and Monaco, according to a statement released on Tuesday.

In this role, he will report directly to GAM’s Global Head of Distribution, Tim Rainsford, who, as previously announced, will rejoin the group at the beginning of October. Rainsford spent around seven years at Generali, most recently as Chief Product and Distribution Officer at Generali Asset Management.

Carmoun previously worked at Robeco, where he served, among other roles, as Head of France. He brings more than 20 years of experience in asset management, along with deep expertise in the French and Benelux markets, the statement adds. Prior to that, he held senior positions at Fidelity, Crédit Agricole, and BNP Paribas. Carmoun is widely recognized for his client-centric approach and his ability to navigate evolving market conditions.

The appointment marks an important step in GAM’s European growth strategy. It is further supported by entrepreneur and GAM majority shareholder Xavier Niel.

Under its new leadership, GAM will place an even stronger focus on Specialist Active, Alternatives, and Wealth Management.
