The Zurich investment house, Vontobel, has appointed two new heads for its institutional clients.

Kaspar Böhni joined Vontobel as head of product management on April 1. He is responsible for developing and managing Vontobel’s product range, including product platform, strategy, and ESG, for the institutional clients of its asset management business.

He replaces Dorothee Wetzel, who is leaving Vontobel at the end of June to pursue a career in financial coaching.

In addition, Ralph Ruijters has been named as Vontobel’s new head global client services. Ruiijters assumed the newly created role on April 7. His expertise will help Vontobel enhance the client experience and servicing across the firm’s entire value chain.

The new duo is based in Zurich and reports to Christoph von Reiche, Vontobel’s head of institutional clients.

From Generali to Vontobel

Böhni joins Vontobel from Generali where he was head product strategy and development in Zurich and Milan. From 2014 until 2022, Böhni was the head global product and fund development at Gam Investment Management in Zürich and London. Earlier in his career, he spent two years working in product development at LGT Capital
Management. He was also a senior portfolio manager for Ifundservices.

Ruijters was most recently an executive director at Goldman Sachs Asset Management. Based in Zurich, he oversaw the firm’s domain strategy and execution of digital information services for institutional clients, fund distributors, and regulators. He was also responsible for the operations and IT of the External Asset Manager Selection platform.
