Vontobel: The Return of Zeno Staub

Zeno Staub and Bank Vontobel – there seems to be a strong mutual attraction.

Staub began his career at the Zurich-based investment house in 2001. He went on to hold various positions: he served as Chief Financial Officer, Head of Investment Banking, Head of Asset Management, and ultimately reached the pinnacle of his career as CEO.

For twelve years, the native of Eastern Switzerland steered the course of the traditional Zurich-based institution.

Commitment to Civil Society

He stepped down in 2023. Staub had developed a strong appreciation for Switzerland’s militia system and wanted to become more actively involved in civil society. «After two decades of leadership responsibility at Vontobel, I decided to give something back to the country and people of Switzerland who have enabled me to achieve so much,» he said in May 2023. Among other things, he sought to pursue a political career and ran for a seat in the National Council — but was unsuccessful. He also holds various mandates with Swiss business enterprises.

Now, he has returned to Vontobel. On Wednesday, he was elected as a member of the bank’s Board of Directors at the Annual General Meeting.

According to a media release, all other proposals submitted to shareholders were also approved.
