Effective January 1, 2025, Bjørn Sibbern will assume the role of CEO at SIX, according to a company statement released on Thursday. Since early 2024, Sibbern has served as Global Head Exchanges and a member of the Group Executive Board, overseeing SIX’s international exchange operations. Jos Dijsselhof is leaving to pursue a new professional opportunity in the Middle East.

Extensive Capital Markets Expertise

SIX highlighted Sibbern’s extensive two-decade-long experience in capital markets. He joined SIX from Nasdaq in early 2024, where he was Executive Vice President and President of European Markets, managing stock exchanges across the Nordic and Baltic regions. Prior to that, he oversaw Nasdaq’s Global Information Services (GIS) from New York. Sibbern’s career also includes leadership roles at Stocknet Norway, E*TRADE Bank Denmark, and the Scandinavian exchange OMX.

Leadership With International Expertise

Strategic Transformation Under Dijsselhof

Since becoming CEO in 2018, Dijsselhof has played a pivotal role in SIX’s commercial development and international expansion. He spearheaded the company’s strategic transformation, including the sale of its card business to Worldline, further diversification of the business portfolio, and key acquisitions, most notably the purchase of Spanish stock exchange BME. Dijsselhof will remain at SIX until the end of February to ensure a smooth leadership transition.
