Insurance Specialist to Head Baloise Bank

Baloise Bank will have a new CEO in the coming year. Thomas Schöb will succeed Jürg Ritz, who is stepping down from the management role at his own request, according to a press release issued on Tuesday.

Schöb has been Head of Customer Services and a member of the Executive Committee of Baloise's Swiss division since August 2023. He joined the insurance group in 2002 as a risk manager and moved to the Asset Management division as Head of Investment Strategy & Investment Controlling in 2005. He later took on the role of Head of Group Life Product Management, then became Head of Claims and subsequently joined the Executive Commitee. In his first year as CEO, Ritz, who will then retire, will support him as a Senior Consultant.

«Exploiting the Potential of the Combination of Insurance and Banking Even Better»

«He combines expertise in insurance, finance and pensions perfectly and will energetically drive the further expansion of our unique insurance-banking business model, supported by an excellent internal and external network,» says Clemens Markstein, CEO of Baloise Schweiz, commenting on the recruitment.

However, he also hints that there is still potential for optimisation and formulates his expectations. «We are thus strengthening the Bank's insurance expertise, which will enable us to exploit the potential of the combination of insurance and banking even better. Thomas Schöb will continue to drive forward the efficiency and effectiveness of our insurance banking model and bring about significant growth through our 29 branches in Switzerland.»
