Capital Group Opens Its First Office in the Middle East
With this move, Capital Group—also active in Switzerland—is further expanding its global footprint. The Abu Dhabi office will be its 35th worldwide and will include investment, operational, and client-facing functions. The expansion is part of a long-term growth strategy and reflects the growing importance of the Middle East as a financial hub, the statement said.
The Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) is regarded as an international financial center in the United Arab Emirates and benefits from a stable regulatory environment as well as increasing access to international capital. According to ADGM Chairman Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi, Capital Group’s decision underscores Abu Dhabi’s attractiveness for global financial institutions.
«A Well-Considered Step»
Capital Group CEO Mike Gitlin described the expansion as a «well-considered step» in line with the company’s long-term strategy. The aim is to be closer to business partners in the region and to explore additional investment opportunities in the Middle East.
Benno Klingenberg-Timm, currently responsible for the institutional business in Europe and Asia, will lead the new office. He views the region not only as a standalone growth market, but also as a strategic link between Europe, Asia, and Africa.
The establishment is also being supported by the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), which is driving the development of a modern financial ecosystem through initiatives in fintech, insurance, and digital assets.
