Neue Bank Achieves Record Net New Money

Neue Bank in Vaduz looks back on an exceptionally strong year in 2025. Particularly striking was the record level of net new money: with 735 million francs, the bank achieved the highest inflow since the introduction of this metric. This corresponds to organic growth of around 11 percent.

Client assets under management increased by 14,6 percent to 7,6 billion francs, surpassing the 7 billion francs mark for the first time. At the same time, the balance sheet total rose by 5,9 percent to 1,45 billion francs.

Operating Result Significantly Improved

The development of the operating result was particularly notable. The result from ordinary business activities increased from 2,1 million francs to 7,2 million francs, a rise of around 239 percent.

Reported net profit remained almost stable at 6,6 million francs, compared with 6,7 million francs in the previous year. However, in 2024 the result had been supported by the release of reserves amounting to 4,6 million francs.

Lower Interest Income

Interest income declined by 13,5 percent to 10,3 million francs. At the same time, the bank benefited from a significantly stronger trading business: income from financial transactions rose by 21,5 percent to 7,9 million francs.

In the first half of the year the picture had still been mixed, as finews previously reported. While revenues increased slightly, rising costs weighed on profits. The annual results now presented show that business developed much more dynamically in the second half of the year.

Leadership Strategy Taking Shape

The development clearly reflects the strategic direction of the leadership team. Roman Pfranger, CEO since early 2025, is driving a growth strategy focused on organic expansion in private banking, intermediaries and fund providers.

Chairman Hansruedi Köng, the former head of Postfinance, has helped shape this course at the strategic level. Together, the board of directors and executive management are pursuing a strategy that deliberately combines growth with capital strength and disciplined risk management.

The bank’s capital base therefore remains very solid: the Tier-1 ratio stands at 27,5 percent, well above the industry average.

The bank sharpened this strategic direction further in December last year when it expanded its leadership structure (as reported by finews.ch).

Growth Comes at a Cost

The strong growth also has its price. Operating expenses increased by 10,2 percent to 26,9 million francs. Personnel expenses in particular rose significantly, climbing by 13,6 percent, reflecting targeted investments in additional staff and infrastructure.

As a result, the cost-income ratio increased from 68,7 percent to 76,4 percent. At the same time, the number of employees rose from 83 to 93 full-time positions.

For the bank’s leadership, however, this development is part of a consciously chosen strategy. According to Chairman Köng, «investments in staff, systems and processes» are intended to lay the foundation for further growth. «We do not grow at any price, but where risk, return and capital remain in balance.»

Looking Towards 2030

CEO Pfranger adds: «We are growing more strongly than ever, keeping profits almost stable in a challenging interest rate environment while simultaneously strengthening our capital base. This combination of growth momentum, earnings power and stability is the path on which we intend to further develop Neue Bank by 2030.»

In 2025 the bank’s strategic repositioning has delivered tangible results for the first time. Record net new money, strongly rising client assets and a significantly improved operating result show that the investments are beginning to pay off.

The next key test will be whether the strong net new money growth and the increased cost base can translate into a more efficient cost structure in the medium term.
