The 47-year-old Swiss-Italian dual citizen is currently Head of the Group Division Customer and Market and a member of the Group Executive Board at the CSS Group, according to a statement released on Tuesday. From 2018 to 2024, Campopiano served as CEO of the online insurer Smile.

Long career at Zurich

Prior to that, Pierangelo Campopiano held various positions within the Zurich Insurance Group. Among other roles, he was Head of Partnerships & Direct Sales from 2012 to 2015 and Head of Sales Strategy & Change at Zurich Switzerland from 2017 to 2018. In between, he worked as Head of Strategic Marketing & Distribution Services at Farmers Insurance Group in Los Angeles.

Campopiano holds a federal diploma in business administration (HF), an Executive Master’s degree in Customer Relationship Management & Marketing from the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), and has completed an Advanced Management Program at the Executive School of the University of St. Gallen.
