Orell Füssli Aims to Grow with Digital Identities and Wealth

Today, the company - active in security printing (banknotes and documents), book retail, publishing, and digital identity solutions - is holding its Capital Markets Day. According to a press release on Tuesday, the event highlights the priorities for the second half of its strategic cycle through 2028.

A particular focus lies on expanding its activities in the growing market for digital identities and credentials. Digital IDs, credentials, and wallets are emerging as a major future theme with significant international potential.

Strengthening Procivis' Position

This business segment is managed by the subsidiary Procivis. Orell Füssli aims to establish Procivis as a leading national and international provider of software solutions for digital identities and credentials.«Based on the new Procivis One technology platform, partnerships with public authorities and enterprises will be expanded, laying the foundation for further growth,» the company stated.

This includes its subsidiary Zeiser, where the company intends to introduce innovations, ensure high production capacity utilization, and strategically expand its international business with security documents and track & trace software solutions. The fact that Orell Füssli does not disclose too many details about innovation is understandable given the sensitivity of this field.

Protecting Identities and Private Data

Key social trends underscore the growing need to safeguard both tangible and intangible assets and to prevent the misuse of identities and private data. In addition, global demand for banknotes continues to rise.

CEO Daniel Link commented: «Thanks to our resilient and broadly diversified business model and our leading market positions, we are excellently positioned. Our solid financial foundation and profitable core business enable us to invest strategically in innovative technologies and, with Procivis, to build a leading role in the future market of digital identities and credentials.»

Positive Development - Also for Shareholders

Orell Füssli, one of Switzerland’s oldest companies with a history spanning more than 500 years, sees itself on track overall. Since launching its growth strategy in 2022, performance has been encouraging. The company describes its business model as diversified and resilient. By 2028, revenue is expected to reach CHF 300 million (2024: CHF 253 million) with an EBIT margin of at least 8 percent. Between 60 and 80 percent of net profit is to be distributed as dividends.

That should please shareholders of the SIX-listed company, which include the Swiss National Bank (SNB), with a 33.3 percent stak, Dieter Meier (15 percent), and the family of Theo Siegert (9.9 percent). Among the members of Orell Füssli's board of directors are Thomas Moser (Deputy Member of the SNB's Governing Board) and Pascale Bruderer, who in October hosted a roundtable discussion on the topic of stablecoins.
