Neon Now Targets the 3a Pension Market

Starting at the end of November, the new «neon 3a» will complement the Zurich-based fintech’s existing account and savings plan offerings. Users can open their pension account in just a few minutes and choose from five investment strategies ranging from defensive to aggressive. Up to five portfolios can be individually tailored to focus on Swiss equities, sustainability, or a mix of both.

The embedded finance architecture for the new service is provided by the digital wealth manager Descartes, which already supplies similar infrastructure for Glarner Regionalbank and the fintech Yuh. Other partners involved include Lienhardt & Partner Privatbank, the simply3a pension foundation, and Swisscanto funds.

Fees Between 0,39 percent and 0,45 percent

The fees range from 0,45 percent to 0,39 percent, decreasing progressively depending on the individual 3a assets. «Pension planning needs to be simple, transparent, and affordable in order to finally reach more users,» said Jörg Sandrock, CEO of Neon.

Rino Borini, Chairman of Descartes, added: «Building proprietary 3a stacks is a thing of the past. Just like with AI, the focus is on leveraging existing, scalable technology and refining it for one’s own use case.» This approach, he said, is «cost-efficient and radically customer-centric.» The implementation, in this case, took only six months.
