Bellevue Aims to Outperform MSCI Healthcare Index with New ETF

Bellevue Asset Management intends to leverage its healthcare expertise and has introduced an actively managed UCITS ETF. The active portfolio management approach will be combined with the advantages of an exchange-traded format, offering transparency, efficiency, and flexibility, the asset manager said in a statement on Thursday.

The investment universe is based on the MSCI World Healthcare Index, which comprises around 130 to 140 companies worldwide. The Bellevue Healthcare ETF will invest in 50 to 100 stocks with the goal of sustainably outperforming the index. The selection will be made on the basis of clear convictions, targeting companies with strong fundamentals and attractive valuations.

Active Selection Matters

A purely index-based strategy on the MSCI World Healthcare is often dominated by mega caps, the company added. It also pointed to the wide dispersion of returns. In 2024, the best-performing stock in the index gained 131 percent, while the weakest fell by about 58 percent. This underscores the relevance of active selection.

The fund is managed by Marcel Fritsch and Terence McManus, both of whom have extensive investment experience in the healthcare sector, according to the statement.

The Bellevue Healthcare ETF is listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange (CHF, USD) and on Deutsche Börse Xetra (EUR). Trading begins today, September 18, 2025, on SIX and on September 19, 2025, on Xetra.
