Two Supervisory Organizations Join Forces
The two supervisory organizations for asset managers and trustees, Fincontrol Suisse and Osfin (Organisation de surveillance financière), are merging to form Osfincontrol. The sponsoring associations Polyreg and VQF have already approved the merger, according to Thursday’s press release.
The partners expect the merger to generate synergies that will bring tangible benefits to the supervised institutions, their clients, and all other market participants. «We are creating a large and strong supervisory partner with a clear focus on efficient, professional, and transparent supervision.»
No Additional Burden for Supervised Institutions
The new organization will benefit from the experience and expertise of «two previously independent and strong organizations.» Osfincontrol, headquartered in Zug with branches in all language regions, will become the second-largest supervisory organization in Switzerland. The consolidation process is intended to be as smooth as possible and not create additional burdens for the supervised institutions.
FINMA, which oversees the supervisory organizations, has been continuously informed about the project from the outset. Final approval of the merger by the authority is still pending.
