finews.com has been inquiring which banking giants are attending the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting at Davos (January 20th to 24th), revealing a mix of usual attendees and some notable newcomers. 

Switzerland’s financial sector is prominently represented. Sergio Ermotti, Group CEO of UBS, leads his firm’s delegation alongside Chairman Colm Kelleher. Adding her expertise is Beatriz Martin Jimenez, President for Europe, Middle East and Africa, Robert Karofsky, Co-President of UBS Global Wealth Management, and George Athanasopoulos, Co-President of UBS's Investment Bank.

A new CEO

Iqbal Khan, Co-President of UBS Global Wealth Management, is currently not expected to attend.

From Julius Bär, the new CEO Stefan Bollinger, and Romeo Lacher, Chairman of the Board, are confirmed participants.

Schlegel's Debut

Daniel Belfer, CEO of Bank J. Safra Sarasin, and Marc Pictet, Senior Managing Partner at Pictet Group, also join the Swiss contingent, as is EFG International's Giorgio Pradelli.

Martin Schlegel will be attending for the first time since having stepped in as the Swiss National Bank's Chairman. His predecessor Philipp M. Hildebrand, now at BlackRock, will also be present.

Top International Bankers

Global financial giants are also well represented. Jamie Dimon, CEO and Chairman of JPMorgan Chase, will take part, joined by Filippo Gori, JPMorgan’s CEO for Asia-Pacific.

Jane Fraser, CEO of Citigroup, and Ted Pick, CEO of Morgan Stanley, are confirmed, alongside Morgan Stanley’s Asia Pacific CEO Gokul Laroia. Representing Goldman Sachs are David Solomon, Chairman and CEO, and Richard Gnodde, CEO of Goldman Sachs International.

Andrea Orcel Also Coming

Bank of America’s Brian Moynihan, Citi's Jane Fraser, AIG's Peter Zaffino will also join the global dialogue. HSBC is sending Mark Tucker, Group Chairman, and Michael Roberts, CEO of HSBC Bank plc. Barclays’ C.S. Venkatakrishnan and Standard Chartered's Bill Winter are also among the participants.

Europe’s top leaders include Slawomir Krupa, CEO of Société Générale, Andrea Orcel, CEO of UniCredit, and Deutsche Bank's Christian Sewing.

From France and from Spain

Natixis CEO Mohamad Kallala and Armundi CEO Valerie Baudson, bring additional French representation. The Dutch delegation includes Tom de Swan, Chairman of ABN AMRO, and CEO Robert Swaak.

From Spain, Ana Botín, Executive Chair of Banco Santander, is joined by CEO Héctor Grisi. BBVA’s Onur Genç completes the strong Iberian presence. 

Crypto’s Limited Presence

While global banks dominate the Davos agenda, the presence of crypto finance is markedly subdued. Only a handful of representatives from the crypto industry, such as Brian Armstrong, Co-Founder and CEO of Coinbase, will be present.

The broader Who’s Who of crypto is instead gathering at the Crypto Finance Conference in St. Moritz a couple of days prior to the WEF, highlighting the community’s choice to convene at a more specialized venue.
