Schroders’ workforce of approximately 350 employees was previously distributed across several locations in Zurich.The Swiss headquarters, which housed the bank and investment management teams along with their various desks, operated from Central. The private equity division was based in Oerlikon, impact investment specialist BlueOrchard operated out of Seefeld, and the service center was located in Westpark.

Now, with the exception of the service center—which was integrated into Schroders’ operational headquarters in Horsham, UK, last year—all units have moved into the newly renovated Schanzenhof building at Talstrasse 11, in Zurich’s District 1.

Schroders has been active in Switzerland since 1967 and holds a banking license under «Schroder & Co Bank AG.»

The bank’s CEO, Adrian Nösberger, also serves as the chairman of the Association of Foreign Banks in Switzerland (AFBS).

The assets managed locally by all Schroders units amount to approximately CHF 41 billion (as of December 31, 2023).

Founding family is largest shareholder

This year, the Schroders Group celebrates its 220th anniversary. The founding family remains the largest shareholder, holding approximately 44% of the shares in the plc.

By bringing all business units together in Schanzenhof, Schroders aims to enhance collaboration and strengthen the firm’s presence in Zurich.

Schanzenhof as an important landmark

«We are proud to continue Schroders’ long-standing tradition and innovative spirit in the newly refurbished Schanzenhof building in Zurich,» said Marcel Vogt, project sponsor for Schroders in Switzerland.

The Schanzenhof, with origins dating back to the 17th century, is considered an architectural landmark.

The renovation was led by general planner tp bennett in collaboration with architects Graf & Spörri. SPPA served as the architect for BVK, the building’s owner.

Project lasted seven years

The project was carried out in close cooperation with heritage preservation authorities, a process that spanned approximately seven years.

The result is a corporate headquarters that meets modern energy and sustainability standards while preserving the historical integrity of the building.
