Swiss Banker Heads Back to Asia
Citi said it is hiring Christian Schuwey in Singapore to run its foreign exchange advisory team for South Asia, effective immediately. The move will see Schuwey, who worked for UBS and a predecessor to the bank from 1986 until last year, move back to Asia from Fribourg, Switzerland.
Most recently, Schuwey was with Boccard & Partenaires, a Swiss family office, as a financial adviser. In his new role at the wealth management arm of the U.S. banking giant, he will seek growth in Australia, Brunei, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand.
High-Rolling Connections
Schuwey used to run a team of foreign exchange specialists in Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Taipei covering ultra-high net worth clients. He worked as an FX trader at UBS' investment bank before moving to its wealth arm ten years ago.
From 2016, when he returned to Switzerland from Singapore, Schuwey worked on various wealth management programs including a certification program for private bankers, according to his LinkedIn page. Citi said Schuwey maintains «direct, longstanding relationships with some of Asia Pacific's largest ultra-high net worth foreign exchange trading clients».
